Why are we no longer taking animals?
Unfortunately, my husband who was the major bread winner has lost his job, and has left the rescue, our home and my life. I am left with trying to pick up the pieces and I just can’t afford to keep it going on my salary. The costs are astronomical and I just can’t do it alone. I am losing the house, which is the rescue and soon we won’t even have a place to live. I can’t afford to pay for it alone and my husband is not able to help. I must take care of the animals first and that just doesn't leave me any money for a mortgage.
How can you help?
Donations, no matter how small are always appreciated. .97 cents buys a can of cat food. I large can feeds 3 kittens. If you have room for a cat in your barn, we have many that will do well in this type of home. Lots of our cats are just not “family” kitties. They have lived through some very hard times. If you know someone who has a spot for a very nice barn cat, please pass my information on to them.
We also still have kittens and cats that not only need homes but that need spaying and neutering. We have no money right now for vet expenses, and our current vet bills are over $3000.00. Since I am the only one working, I am left with trying to find a way to pay those bills. My salary does not cover anything above the basics. I simply cannot afford to pay for the care that we need to provide for the animals we have, so we are desperately trying to place them as quickly as we can.
Donations are always welcome and below I have outlined some of the costs that are associated with our rescue. You will see that almost all of my salary has been used to care for the cats we have left. When my husband was here, his salary paid for the house and all of those kinds of things, phone, electric, cell phones, internet etc.... I took care of the animals. It’s why I worked.
If you would like to make a monetary donation, please email me and I will give you the information you need to do that. I am asking that all donations please be made to my clinic directly in order to help pay that bill. It's astronomical!
On a personal note, my heart is broken because of this devastating turn of events. I am losing the one thing that I have loved beyond measure, the rescue and sanctuary. I cannot take care of my animals that depend on me. If we cannot find places for the sanctuary residents, be that homes or other rescues, we will be forced to make decisions that we cannot avoid. I pray that will not happen and that I will be able to find a place for everyone, including myself. It’s a lot to lose all at once, my husband, my rescue, my animals, and my home. I still have a job and my friends.
If you can do nothing else for us, please keep us in your prayers.
Mary C. King•Things that are not getting paidPhone – I do have a land line at this point.. I don't deem this an absolute necessity, but I will keep it as long as I can. Mortgage – $650.00 a month. Electric - this varies. It was $194.00, in October (for Sept), and this month its $123.00 and change. I had a very kind person donate this money to my electric company and pay this for me last month I am hoping I can pay it myself this month. These are the things my husband paid for and I cannot afford to pay because of the need to feed the animals. We are now 3 months behind on our mortgage and forecloure notices have started to come.
I have 2 vets, one vet who will not treat my animals at this point because I owe them so much money, almost $1500.00. This is the most dangerous thing for me, especially with sick kitties. I still have a vet who will treat my animals but I also owe him a little over $900.00 so I keep this to a minimum.Only in emergencys. Thank God for him.
